Day Two - Ontario

American Falls

Libby & I at Niagara Falls

Day Two started off with a visit to Niagara Falls.

It was a cold and rainy Tuesday. Since the weather was not the best, the park had only a few visitors. Getting around was easy and all of the falls were accessible from Goat Island.   Our first stop was American Falls & Bridal Veil Falls. A combined 150,000 gallons of water flow over both falls every second.

Not sure if it was worth climbing the rail for this change.
Horse Shoe Falls was impressive with 600,000 gallons of water flowing over every second.

Next, we headed for the Canadian border for a visit in Burlington, ON. We were having lunch with a friend of mine at a pub called The Beaver & Bulldog. The pub offers both Canadian & British food on the menu. Barbara was a gracious hostess and introduced us to a Canadian staple. Poutine is a dish consisting of French Fries topped with fresh cheese curds, covered with brown gravy and sometimes additional ingredients. It was different and interesting at the same time. After lunch, we took a brief walk along the shore of Lake Ontario. It would be the first of the 5 Great Lakes that we will visit over the next 9 days.

Next, we headed for Toronto. After checking into the Delta Chelsea Hotel, we walked down Yonge Street to the Eaton Centre to look around. It is a big mall and most of the shops were familiar.

After our visit to Eaton Centre, we walked across the street and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe. The food was good and the cafe houses a lot of different memorabilia that we have not seen in an any of the other HRC's that we have visited.
